Based in Miami, Teatro Avante has presented plays in both English and Spanish in venues across the country. Thanks to grants such as those administered by Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation through its US Artists International program, the theater has also performed globally, including a 2009 residency at Spain's Festival de Teatro de Villa de Molina. The NEA's Josephine Reed spoke with Teatro Avante Producing Artistic Director Mario Ernesto Sanchez about the company's experiences abroad.
