Washington, DC
Today we are presenting the webcast of the Cultural Workforce Forum, a forum about America’s artists, other cultural workers, and how art works as a part of this country’s real economy. Academics, foundation professionals, and service organization representatives are here in Washington to discuss improving the collection and reporting of statistics about arts and cultural workers, and to develop future research agendas and approaches. The Forum will be broadcast from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The webcast has concluded. An archived version will be available next week.

Just wanted to say thanks for webcasting this! Following along in Tallahassee, FL and tweeting at twitter.com/micahvandegrift
will slides/handouts be posted somewhere?
The video and slides will be made available as part of the archive available right after Thanksgiving.
“Life Map” survey technology is fascinating. This technology implies many applications, even for studying the career development of museum professionals in the arts, e.g. art conservators. Very useful for the art conservation graduate programs around the world. Thank you for this presentation.
Thank you, NEA, for doing this. Very grateful for the opportunity to be a virtual part of the viewing public.
Will there be any follow up on the comment in the discussion at the end about the work done by the UK government on cultural workforce initiatives?
I know that the German Federal Culture Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes) has also done interesting work in this respect (http://www.kulturstiftung-des-bundes.de/cms/en/programme/ – or a programme called “The Future of Labor” – german language only – http://www.kulturstiftung-des-bundes.de/cms/de/programme/arbeit_in_zukunft/). Could these and similar international initiatives provide useful cultural workforce data to compare with the situation in the US?
Thank you NEA for this wonderfully informative web conference. We will be looking forward to having the materials available online so we can share with our cultural constituents here in Indiana.

Thank you for pointing us to these resources. We plan to issue a report on the proceedings from the forum next year, which might reference the international research activities on this front.
