To support the One Theatre World 2003 Symposium. The national event held in Philadelphia, Penn. in April of 2003, will encourage critical dialogue in the development of professional theatre for young audiences.

Ballet Memphis Corporation

To support two world premieres during the Dancing Together III repertory show. The premieres will be created by choreographer Trey McIntyre and Associate Artistic Director Karl Condon.

Carpetbag Theatre, Inc.

To support the development of a new work entitled Six Ensemble Actors in Search of Their Story. Combining live actors, digital images, narrative and documentation collected during the creative process, the piece will reveal the art of ensemble development as the work is performed.

To support The Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written Word in 2003. With an annual audience of 30,000, this free, three-day festival features readings and panel sessions by more than 200 authors.

Nashville Chamber Orchestra

To support the American Song Festival, a six-concert project celebrating the American art song. The festival, directed by music director Paul Gambill, will include the commission and premiere of a new work by Dr. J. Mark Scearce based on a text by Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison.

Nashville Children's Theatre

To support the production of two plays through the New Horizons Initiative. A Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson, and Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, by Kevin Kling, will be directed by Artistic Director Scot Copland and presented in the spring of 2003.

Nashville City Ballet
Nashville, TN

To support the creation of new works. Choreographers Heather Maloy and James Buckley, as well as Artist Director Paul Vasterling, will choreograph the works to music by faculty members of Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music.

Sinking Creek Film Celebration, Inc.

To support the Nashville Independent Film Festival. The event features student films and videos, documentaries, narrative films and experimental work.
