To support a lecture series focused on stimulating discussion of the built environment. Internationally recognized designers and artists will be invited to speak in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau.

To support a National Election Design Summit and a series of regional workshops. Election officials and administrators, designers, ballot printers, and manufacturers of electronic voting equipment will participate.

To support a community education program examining the historical context of local neighborhoods. Students from two local schools along with neighborhood residents will work with designers to develop proposals for redevelopment of abandoned rail lines into bicycle and pedestrian paths

To support an exhibition and catalogue on textile design as propaganda in America, Great Britain, and Japan during World War II. The exhibition held at the Bard Graduate Center titled Wearing Propaganda, will present significant examples of mid-20th century textile design that reflected cultural attitudes.

To support a consortium project for the restoration of the Octagon Shelter in Branch Brook Park. In collaboration with the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, the Octagon Shelter will be restored for use by neighborhood schools and community groups.

To support educational workshops about the preservation of historic adobe structures. The project will train rural community residents in traditional building methods.

To support a consortium project for the creation of a downtown redevelopment plan for Uniontown, Alabama. To be completed in partnership with Auburn University's Center for Architecture and Urban Studies in Birmingham, the plan will focus on improving the downtown business district.

To support a consortium project for a publication about architect Eero Saarinen. In conjunction with Yale University, the catalogue will be printed and distributed worldwide to universities and libraries.

To support the reinstallation of the Museum's permanent collection. Urban planning, architecture, decorative arts, and industrial, interior, and graphic design objects from 1885 to 1945 will be presented to demonstrate the role of design in shaping and reflecting the human experience.

To support a historic theater rescue and rehabilitation initiative. A training manual and a national inventory of historic theaters will be created and published, and related workshops will be conducted.

National Building Museum (consortium)

To support a consortium project for the research, exhibition, catalogue, and educational materials about World's Fairs of the 1930s in America. Collaborating with the Wolfsonian Museum, the project will explore the impact of six World's Fairs on the modern design movement.

Price Tower Arts Center, Inc.

To support the conservation of interior finishes and furnishings of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed interior. The H. C. Price executive office and family apartment conservation project will permit the space to be restored to its 1956 appearance.

Richard Nickel Committee

To support the preservation of, and increased accessibility to, the photographs, negatives, papers, and research of architectural photographer Richard Nickel. The collection includes more than 11,000 images of buildings by seminal architects such Dankmar Adler, Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

To support the preservation of, and creation of, the archive of graphic designer George Giusti. After stabilizing and sorting the archive, a detailed Web-based finding aid will be created to provide access to a wider audience.

To support a consortium project for a traveling exhibition, Web site, lecture series, and catalogue that highlights neighborhood revitalization. Working with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the project will promote the rehabilitation of abandoned historic properties.

U.S. Green Building Council, Inc.

To support a pilot program for a professional certification for "green" neighborhood design. The national certification system will be modeled after the existing national rating system for green buildings.
