To support the Collaborative Cultural Audience Development Initiative. Selected arts organizations within the Council's Missouri and Kansas service area will incorporate a coordinated audience development strategy into their marketing plans.

To support a national dance festival. Black Dance - USA: A Celebration in Movement will consist of dance workshops, a concert by a national dance company, discussions sessions, dance films, and African percussion and song classes.

To support the creation and presentation of two works by choreographers Twyla Tharp and Robert Hill. The company will perform Tharp's As Time Goes By, and a world premiere by Robert Hill.

To support the production of August Wilson's play, Two Trains Running. Part of Wilson's cycle of plays about the African American experience, the play takes place in a Pittsburgh diner in 1969 and examines the lives of regulars struggling to cope with the rapidly changing world around them.

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis

To support the American premiere of Jane Eyre, a contemporary opera by composer Michael Berkeley and librettist David Malouf. The two-act opera, based on Charlotte Bronte's novel, will be performed at Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center.

To support publication, promotion, and related expenses for issues of The Missouri Review. The magazine will enhance its Web site and target 50,000 potential readers through a national direct mail campaign.
