To support a production of a stage adaptation of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men directed by Drew Fracher and featuring members of the resident company. The production will be accompanied by an educational component including teaching guides, matinees, and a discussion series.

Jubilee Community Arts, Inc.

To support live presentations, broadcasts, and documentation of traditional music. The project will include a series of weekly concerts, performances at the Jubilee Festial, programs focusing on the traditional music of the southern Appalachian region, and research and documentation of traditional artists in east Tennessee.

To support productions of Gaetano Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment and Robert Ward's one-act opera Roman Fever, double-billed with Gioacchino Rossini's chamber opera Il cambiale di matrimonio. The productions will form the centerpiece of the Fourth Annual Rossini Festival in April 2005, a free Italian Street Fair in downtown Knoxville.

To support the 36th Nashville Film Festival, featuring student films and videos, documentaries, narrative films, and experimental work. The festival will also present workshops and seminars on writing screenplays, film scores, and distribution issues.

CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence  FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Opera 
To support the world premiere of a new opera based on Elmer Gantry, the Sinclair Lewis novel about a charismatic businessman turned preacher. The music combines a melange of arias, hymn tunes, chorus spirituals, operatic duets, and musical ensembles.
