To support the creation of a Leadership Development Initiative. The project will address issues such as the generational shift in leadership; the need to develop culturally diverse leaders; and continued professional development for management of staff of artist communities.

Community Musicworks

To support free music education and performance programs for children and youth. During 2005-06, the Providence String Quartet will be in residence and will teach and mentor students, as well as perform in the community.

First Night Providence, Inc. (consortium)

To support a consortium project to produce FirstWorksProv Festival 2005, a series that presents New England performance premieres. In partnership with the City of Providence, the festival will be extended into the community through forums, workshops, lectures, and discounted admissions.

Pawtucket Day Nursery Association

To support weekly music classes for low-income, underserved children. Instructors from the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic will provide music appreciation and introductory instruction to children in Pawtucket Day's music program.

To support Project Langston 2005. The actor-training program is a continuation of A Tribute to Langston Hughes, a company-created piece that provides an opportunity for repertory and community actors to expand and refine their skills.

Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra

To support Business After-Hours community outreach performances. The orchestra will perform for employees and their families at their workplace.
