To support Pioneers and Frontiers: Tradition and Beyond, a project that will include the commissioning and presentation of work by American and international modern dance choreographers. Free education and outreach activities will include seminars with choreographers and dancers, post-performance discussions, tours to classes and workshops, and open rehearsals and master classes.

To support the creation and presentation of A Tempest Fantasy, a ballet choreographed by artistic director Robert Weiss. Educational activities include participation in Carolina Ballet's Dancer in Schools program, an outreach program for public school fifth graders throughout North Carolina.

To support an exhibition of the work of African American artist William H. Johnson, (1901-1970), with an accompanying catalogue. The exhibition will trace Johnson's career from his arrival in New York City in 1918 to his later work in the 1950s.
