To support the commissioning and presentation of an opera by composers Michael Ching and John Pingayak and librettists David Hunsaker and Jack Dalton. Based on Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, the new work will fuse elements of indigenous Alaskan mythology and storytelling traditions with Western operatic composition.

To support the Student Matinee Program. The company will provide program excerpts of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette to ninth-grade students of area public schools.

To support the American premiere of Waiting for the Barbarians by composer and librettist Philip Glass. An education symposium and additional education and outreach activities will accompany the performances.

To support the North American premiere of Psyché by Jean-Baptiste Lully. The fully staged performances will include early music performers, choristers, and dancers, and will serve as the centerpiece of the 14th biennial festival.

To support the world premiere of Poet Li Bai by composer Guo Wenjing and librettists Diana Liao and Xu Ying. The new opera is inspired by the work of Li Bai, a revered Chinese poet who lived 1,200 years ago during the Tang dynasty.

To support a production of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. Activities held in conjunction with the African American Museum will delve into the genesis of the opera and its place in American history and contemporary musical history.

To support the world premiere of Anna Karenina by composer David Carlson and librettist Colin Graham. The two-act opera, based on Leo Tolstoy's novel, will take place during the annual OPERA America conference and will be performed in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House in Miami's new Carnival Center for the Performing Arts.

To support the world premiere of Frau Margot by composer Thomas Pasatieri and librettist Frank Corsaro. The opera will be the company's first world premiere and will anchor the company's first summer festival season, as it makes a shift from nearly 60 years of fall-spring programming.

Based on an original text by playwright Terrence McNally, the musical theater work will combine spoken text, solos, and ensembles with an onstage chamber orchestra, and will feature American mezzo-soprano Frederica Von Stade.

To support performances of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and related educational activities. Three performances will take place at Willson Auditorium utilizing a core group of professional singers, augmented by instrumentalists and singers from the local community.

To support the world premiere of Cyrano by composer David DiChiera and librettist Bernard Uzan. The project is a collaboration between Michigan Opera Theatre, Florida Grand Opera, and the Opera Company of Philadelphia.

To support a consortium project for the premiere of the new opera The Grapes of Wrath by composer Ricky Ian Gordon and librettist Michael Korie. Co-commissioned and co-produced with Utah Symphony & Opera, the project will bring John Steinbeck's 1939 novel to the opera stage.

To support a new production of Rossini's La donna del lago. The opera is set in 16th-century Scotland and is based on Sir Walter Scott's 1810 poem The Lady of the Lake.

To support the American premiere of Tea: A Mirror of Soul by Tan Dun with libretto by Xu Ying and the composer. Education and outreach programs will include free public lectures about the opera and a symposium involving the composer, librettist, and director.
