To support the production of Borders. The series of short documentaries by independent filmmakers and Internet artists will be offered to the public via the Internet.

To support the Directing Workshop for Women. Each year, the program provides individuals with the necessary skills and portfolio to enter the directing field.

To support the Summer Documentary Institute. Nine Appalachian youth will work with professional Appalshop filmmakers to learn documentary video production.

Art's for Everyone, Inc.

To support the Rural Filmmaker Exchange. During the summer of 2007, filmmakers from Appalshop will conduct workshops and residencies for Encinal youth media makers and others; the following summer, filmmakers from Art's for Everyone will travel to the Appalchian Media Institute at Appalshop in Whitesburg, Kentucky, to share work and ideas.

To support post-production costs for a documentary film by Joanna Rudnick. In collaboration with the Chicago Center for Jewish Genetic Disorders, the filmmaker, part of the Kartemquin team, will examine the struggles women face when they have undergone genetic testing for cancer and discovered they are positive for the gene.

To support post-production costs for a documentary film by David Simpson. Milking the Rhino examines community-based conservation in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa.

To support the distribution of audio plays to schools and libraries. The Alive and Aloud and Library Access national outreach programs provide the audio plays to underserved communities in all 50 states.

To support the production of audio documentaries by Dan Collison and Elizabeth Meister. As part of the series Heartland Chronicles, the programs will be broadcast on National Public Radio and Chicago Public Radio to an estimated audience of 2.2 million people.
