KANSAS International Association for Jazz Education (aka IAJE) Manhattan, KS $45,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support the 35th annual International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Conference and Music Festival. The conference includes performances, workshops, master classes, and panel sessions and will be held in Toronto, Canada. Johnson County Community College (aka Carlsen Center) Overland Park, KS $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support presentations by dance companies Doug Varone and Dancers, Sydney Dance Company, North Carolina Dance Theatre, and State Ballet Theatre of Russia at the Carlsen Center. Each company will offer educational activities, such as master classes, open rehearsals, lecture-demonstations, and pre-performance lectures. University of Kansas Center for Research, Inc. Lawrence, KS $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support Conflict and Creativity. The series of residencies, performances, and community conversations will explore the impact of political and social turmoil on young foreign artists from Brazil, Israel, and Taiwan.
