The project will include a series of stakeholder roundtables, dance artist networking sessions, and a series of action white papers for improving the environment for dance in New Jersey. Gehrke, Steven Upper Montclair, NJ $20,000 CATEGORY: Literature Fellowships FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Literature To support a creative writing fellowship. Hoch, James Mahwah, NJ $20,000 CATEGORY: Literature Fellowships FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Literature To support a creative writing fellowship. International Sculpture Center, Inc. (aka Sculpture Magazine) Hamilton, NJ $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Visual Arts To support production of Sculpture magazine. Solicited articles will focus on current work of artists, events, and public art projects. McCarter Theater (aka McCarter Theatre Center) Princeton, NJ $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the world premiere production of Mrs. Packard, a new play by artistic director and playwright Emily Mann. Selected to be part of the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays, the play follows its historical title character into a 19th-century insane asylum. Montclair State University Foundation, Inc. Upper Montclair, NJ $40,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support a series of performances and residencies during the Arts and Cultural Programming season. Activities will include master classes, workshops, and post-performance discussions. New Jersey Performing Arts Center Corporation Newark, NJ $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support Sounds of the City, a free outdoor summer concert series. Emerging and established local artists will be showcased in a variety of musical genres. Paper Mill Playhouse Millburn, NJ $15,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Musical Theater To support the revision and workshop production of a musical. Stafford Arima will direct Bar Mitzvah Boy, a musical based on Jack Rosenthal's award-winning teleplay and musical by librettist/lyricist Don Black and composer Jule Styne. Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium (aka Black Maria Film and Video Festival) Jersey City, NJ $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Media Arts To support the Black Maria Film and Video Festival and its multi-state tour to Alaska, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Colorado, West Virginia, and Iowa. More than 50 works will be included ranging from short documentaries to experimental films. Wheaton Village, Inc. (on behalf of Creative Glass Center of America) Millville, NJ $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Visual Arts To support a residency program for emerging and mid-career glass artists. Artists will be provided with housing, a stipend, studio facilities, and technical assistance to work in glass.
