NEW MEXICO Cornerstones Community Partnerships Santa Fe, NM $30,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Design To support workshops focused on the preservation and conservation of historic adobe structures. The project will train rural community residents in traditional building methods. Fine Arts for Children and Teens, Inc. (aka FACT) Santa Fe, NM $35,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support in-depth, visual arts education programs. Components will include ARTreach, an integrated in-school program for students; ARTclub, an after-school arts learning program; ARTbarn, a community-based, year-long program held at FACT's Community Studio; ARTcamp, a summer arts camp; and professional development workshops for teachers. Los Reyes de Albuquerque Foundation Albuquerque, NM $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support Nuevomexicano folk traditions and performances of the Entriega de los Novios. Nuevomexicano presentations will be held at senior and nursing centers, adult and child day-care centers, and meal sites for the homeless. The Entriega de los Novios will be presented at middle and high schools. Moving People Dance Theatre, Inc. (aka MPDT) Santa Fe, NM $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support the Santa Fe Dance Festival. The project will include performances and dance training for student and professional dancers and the public.
National Dance Institute New Mexico Santa Fe, NM $37,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support the Albuquerque In-School Program. Students in the third through sixth grades from Albuquerque schools will receive weekly, in-school dance classes and an opportunity to participate in a culminating production at the National Hispanic Cultural Center's Roy E. Disney Theater. National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation Albuquerque, NM $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support a series of performances for children and youth and statewide touring of performing arts groups to underserved communities. The performances will be complemented by a seminar for teachers on Hispanic arts and outreach activities by artists. New Mexico Arts Santa Fe, NM $560,900 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. New Mexico Symphony Orchestra (aka Albuquerque Symphony Orchestra) Albuquerque, NM $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support a statewide tour to small, rural, and underserved communities of New Mexico. The project also will offer educational activities in Albuquerque-area schools. Outside In Productions (Consortium) Santa Fe, NM $20,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Youth With Promise. A partnership with El Museo Cultural de Sante Fe, the program will offer classes in dance, guitar, and visual arts for incarcerated youth and after they have been released. Spanish Colonial Arts Society, Inc. (aka SCAS) Santa Fe, NM $15,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Museum To support the expansion of learning projects in traditional Hispano art forms for underserved communities in New Mexico. The project's objective is to encourage the revival and continuation of endangered Hispano art forms and practices. University of New Mexico Main Campus Albuquerque, NM $15,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Media Arts To support the production of a documentary radio series about folk musician Pete Seeger. To be produced by biographer David Dunaway, the three hour-long programs will chronicle Seeger's life and career as a performer and songwriter.
