To support free music education and performance programs targeted to at-risk children and youth. The Providence String Quartet will be in residence and will teach and mentor students as well as perform in its downtown storefront facility and in other community venues.

Works by composer John Adams will be performed by the Boston Modern Orchestra, Providence Singers, and Rhode Island and Boston Children's Choirs; and the Thunderbird American Indian Dance Ensemble will perform traditional Native dances and music.

To support the Youth Mentorship Program and the Arts Mentoring Fellowship Program. The two components are based on a community plan that will enable young emerging artists to design and implement arts initiatives for high school students participating in after-school and summer visual and literary arts programs.

To support the performance and recording of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Dominick Argento's Jonah and the Whale.  Artistic Director Andrew Clark will conduct the live performances in Providence.

To support Project Open Door, a visual arts education program.  The free, after-school and summer program for underserved urban high school students and teachers will provide opportunities for youth to develop technical skills in the visual arts and prepare competitive college entrance portfolios.
