To support the conservation and exhibition of a complete set of Tibetan thangkas (scroll paintings) depicting scenes from the life of Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419). Painted in vivid, elaborate detail, the early 19th-century Tsongkhapa thangkas represent one of only three known complete sets of their kind in the world.

To support enhanced access to the Norman Baynard Collection of African American Photographs. To date a virtually unknown collection, the photographs were taken by Baynard (1908-1986) in a neighborhood studio he operated in Logan Heights, a segregated middle-class neighborhood of African Americans in San Diego.

To support the conservation treatment of Native American baskets in the museum's permanent collection. Cited for conservation in an assessment report completed in 2006, the restored baskets will be available for research, exhibitions, and educational programming.

To support the reinstallation of the museum's permanent collection. The project will better present the museum's expanded collection in thematically organized groupings tailored to community interests and activities.

To support the touring exhibition Paul Thek, a Retrospective, with accompanying catalogue. Co-organized with the Carnegie Museum of Art, the exhibition will reintroduce American audiences to Thek's work, which, for a variety of reasons, is better known by Europeans.
