FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts To support arts education at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, a residential multidisciplinary summer arts camp for middle and high school students in Alaska. Students will be taught dance, theater, music, creative writing, visual arts, and Alaskan Native arts by a faculty of artists and educators from around Alaska and the nation. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support an Evening of Shakespeare - Romeo & Juliet/Othello, a collaboration with the Eugene Ballet Company and choreographer Gillmer Duran to celebrate Alaska Dance Theatre's 30th anniversary. By including story-based ballets with contemporary repertory concerts, the project juxtaposes a classical and contemporary approach to the two classic Shakespeare masterpieces. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support the Saxman Heritage Art Revitalization for Kids project (SHARK). The project will provide after-school and weekend instruction in traditional Native Alaskan arts, including songs, drumming, dance, weaving, and carving for masks and totem poles. Sitka Summer Music Festival Inc. Anchorage, AK $15,000

FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support concert tours of chamber music in cities and rural towns of Alaska, including Anchorage, Barrow, Homer, Kenai, Sitka, and Tenakee Springs. The festival brings professional musicians from around the world to Alaska each year to rehearse and perform in small ensembles of two to eight performers in as many as 25 concerts.
