To support the reinstallation of the West Wing for Contemporary Art. The collection, which spans Abstract Expressionism to the present, will be presented in thematic groupings with new lighting and technology systems that allow for the integration of light-sensitive objects and the presentation of new media.

To support a national tour of concerts and educational activities. Works to be performed will include composer Arthur Honegger's opera (semi-staged) Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher (Joan of Arc at the Stake), Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Joan Tower's Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, and Jennifer Higdon's Percussion Concerto, all conducted by Music Director Marin Alsop.

The project will include the inventory and documentation of approximately 1,000 works by artists such as Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Aaron Douglas, Sam Gilliam, and Jacob Lawrence; additionally, the project includes the hiring of a full-time registrar and the development of the Driskell Center's collection management policy and procedures.

To support Musical Theatre Online (1860-1923), a project that will provide online access to the libretti and music of early musicals. Electronic transcriptions of piano-vocal scores for selected musicals will be made available for download in a variety of formats, and a web interface will be designed to link text from a libretto to the audio score.
