A partnership with James Sewell Ballet, the project will consist of community-building activities such as hosting in-studio events, assembling a shared mailing list, developing a networking portal on the Cowles Center website for the Twin Cities dance community, creating a base of well-informed dance advocates, assembling a Dance Ambassadors Circle, and expanding collaborative engagement activities for dance companies after the Cowles Center opens. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support a production of Christopher Sergal's adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, directed by Artistic Director Hal Cropp. The production will feature several members of Commonweal's resident-artist company and will be part of the theater's student matinee series, which includes $5 student tickets, access to context videos and study guides, pre-performance classroom visits by members of the cast, and post-performance discussions. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the premiere of 1968: The Play (working title) that will run in conjunction with the St. Paul's History Center's installation 1968: The Exhibit (working title). In a partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society, the theater has commissioned eight diverse and highly lauded playwrights to each create a 10-15 minute play to be curated and staged into a full-length work that depicts events during this influential year in United States history.
