To support Elemental, a research and implementation project to identify solutions for providing sustainable, affordable housing in rural Alaska. In collaboration with Renewable Energy Alaska Project, this project will include public roundtable discussions, design charrettes, and an exhibit, toolkit and master plan for a rural village.

To support the Open Architecture Challenge. The 2012 challenge is an ideas competition that invites architects and designers from around the world to develop innovative urban design and land use solutions for the re-purposing of former and decommissioned military sites.

To support the digital Journal of Architectural Education. This online publication will provide a digital platform for the production and dissemination of architectural scholarship and design experimentation that will reach new audiences with scholarly publications in design.

The project will pair as many as five designers with local government agencies in San Francisco for one month residencies and a series of public meetings to explore issues and propose solutions for challenges to urban livability.

The series, available on the Cultural Landscape Foundation's Web site, includes modules that feature filmed interviews with renowned landscape architects, visual materials, transcripts, and artists' biographies that capture a historical record of significant works of landscape architecture.

To support the third annual Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute. Through the Institute, Enterprise Community Partners seeks to improve architectural design practices in low- and moderate-income communities via an interactive workshop.

To support the development of the Electronic Textiles Interface Swatch Book. The electronic book will include a computer interfacing book, a swatch binder, and manufacturing and technical guidelines for electronic textiles; exposing fashion designers to new ways of incorporating technology textiles into their designs.

To support the creation of City as Living Laboratory (CaLL) Gowanus. CaLL is pioneered by environmental artist Mary Miss and will foster collaboration between visual thinkers and scientists by designing a series of interactive field stations at each of the Gowanus Canal bridge crossings in Brooklyn, New York.

To support the transformation of the vacant streetcar level of the Detroit Superior Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio, into a cultural venue. In collaboration with Cleveland Festival of Art and Technology, project activities include a schematic design to address basic functional issues, an international design competition to expand the range of ideas for public use of the bridge, and community engagement throughout the process.

To support the exhibition On Land/With Water: A Mobile Museum in the Mississippi Delta. The exhibition will include a design simulation station, audio listening/recording stations, and a geo-spatial visualization laboratory.

To support Schindler Lab, rounds two and three. This newly launched exhibition series pairs a local emerging artist and local emerging architect to build complementary installations in the modernist landmark Schindler House.

To support Designing Action, an ideas competition and exhibition for the creation of an alternative sports park in Nashville. The project's goal is to spark a conversation in Nashville about the role that beautifully designed spaces can play in shaping an active, healthy, and livable city.

To support Welcome Home, a media exhibition. Welcome Home will bring visitors inside the interiors of architecturally designed American homes through projection techniques, serving as the centerpiece of House and Home a five year-long exhibit that will showcase the evolution and diversity of American domestic architecture and design.

To support the traveling exhibition, FitNation: Healthy Communities through Design, and accompanying programming. In collaboration with Project for Public Spaces, Inc., project activities will demonstrate the many ways that design can encourage physical activity and better health, and the value of active design in cities nationwide.

To support the 10th Annual openhousenewyork (OHNY) Weekend. The event will offer free access to more than 200 architecturally significant sites and facilities, along with more than 150 education programs throughout the five boroughs to promote a greater appreciation of New York City's built environment.

To support Making Homes for the Arts in Sacred Places. The project goal is to encourage long-term mutually beneficial space-sharing relationships by tapping underused facilities in historic, sacred places to meet the chronic need among arts groups for affordable space.

To support Pratt Center for Community Development's New York Industrial Retention Network. A goal of the project is to strengthen the relationship between the manufacturing and design sectors by conducting research and extensive outreach, producing a report that identifies opportunities for collaboration, and hosting networking events.

To support Studio H, a community design/build and public education program in rural Bertie County, North Carolina. Through an intensive high school design curriculum, 16 high school students will design and build a contextually responsive and socially transformative architecture project to house programming that benefits the public.

To support Stillspotting NYC, an outdoor exhibition. In collaboration with New York City Department of Transportation and Columbia University's Spatial Information Design Lab, Stillspotting NYC will explore the concept of stillness in a restless urban landscape by pinpointing flows of stress, population density, and noise; and designing "stillspots" that will offer sources of inspiration for a city in need of peace and quiet.
