To support the Gallery 37 - Arizona Centennial Project featuring the creation of a mural for installation in Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Gallery 37, the council's signature youth arts employment program, engages students ages 15 to 18 with professional artists to design, create, and install permanent pieces of public art in the West Valley.

To support performances and workshops featuring the work of composer Michael Torke and percussionist Alexej Gerassimez. Torke's Mojave Concerto for Marimba will be the featured presentation during the performances to take place at the Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock.

To support Giving Voice: A Festival of Writing & the Arts. To support the South Asian International Film Festival. The 10th annual festival will include full-length features, documentaries, and short films by South Asian filmmakers from the United States, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Europe, Canada, and the South Asian diaspora, with a special program called Bombay Noir featuring guest filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Sriram Raghavan.

To support the development of A History of the Body, performed by artists from the Pagbabalik (Return) Project. The multidisciplinary, spoken word performance piece will explore the ways body images of immigrants are affected by cultural, historical, and media influences.

To support Las Tradiciones Musicales Concert Series & Educational Workshops, featuring Mexican musical traditions. Guest artists, including the Leyenda Dance Company, Jeff Nevin, and Mariachi Garibaldi, will participate in the bilingual concert series for audiences from throughout San Diego County.

To support Celebrating Our Traditions in Harmony, a choral concert featuring the a cappella ensemble Vocolot. The performance will premiere several new choral pieces created by Terrance Kelly, artistic director of Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, and Linda Hirschhorn, artistic director of Vocolot that explore gospel, spirituals, folk, and world music.

To support the Visiting Artist Series, a sequence of workshops and lectures featuring mosaic artists Beth Barror, Jolino Beserra, Kim Emerson, and Lillian Sizemore. The project will target low-income residents and culminate in an exhibit of the participants' work at The Mark, an events venue in Los Angeles.

To support the Island Arts Concert Series and workshops, featuring musical traditions from islands around the world. In partnership with the Alameda Boys & Girls Club and Girls Incorporated of the Island City, youth will participate in workshops taught by the guest artists. To support a community concert featuring guitarist Lee Ritenour and related outreach. Additional outreach activities will include a master class at the World Stage Arts Education and Performance Gallery in Los Angeles, as well as workshops at The Harmony Project in Hollywood and the Guadalupe Community Center in Canoga Park.

To support the development of architectural designs for the Pueblo Creative Industry Building Complex. Proposed sites to undergo adaptive reuse include the Pueblo Ice House, Holmes Hardware Company Building, and the Colorado Building. Local arts organizations that commit to being housed at the facility will collaborate with the selected architects to finalize the design.

To support a residency by the dance, percussion, and vocal ensemble, Giwayen Mata. Giwayen Mata which performs traditional dances, as well as modern works inspired by the dances of Mali, the Ivory Coast, South Africa, Guinea, and others will perform and lead workshops at schools and alternative education facilities in Immokalee and Naples, Florida.

Outreach efforts will include workshops with Weber and Boricua for local apprentice artists and the creation of a community mural.

To support the creation of a sound chamber sculpture by artist Juan Angel Chavez, in collaboration with local high school and university students. A similar project resulted in a sound chamber that measured 25 feet in length, 20 feet in width, and 10 feet in height. After the sound chamber is created using found objects, musicians and performers will be invited to perform within the space.

To support Experience Munfordville, a cell phone tour and Web site promoting the area's historic architecture and traditional arts. Content for the cultural tourism project will be developed by consultants Joanna Hay and Judy Sizemore with City of Munfordville/Tourism staff, the Hart County Historical Society, the Kentucky Folklife Program, the Kentucky Oral History Commission, and local folk artists and tradition bearers.

To support the creation of the Frankfort Tour of Public Art and Architecture, a cultural tourism project promoting county landmarks through a cell phone tour and Web site. Kentucky State University students will conduct oral history interviews, based on training from the Kentucky Oral History Commission and the Kentucky Folklife Program, that will be included in the narration.

To support the Bowdoin Festival Extra and Artists of Tomorrow Community Concerts and related outreach activities. An extension of the Bowdoin Festival, the proposed outreach programming includes lectures, demonstrations, and public master classes at Brunswick's Bowdoin College and off-site locations in nearby towns. It will bring together established musicians with international reputations and emerging artists to perform for diverse audiences throughout Maine's midcoast.

To support a building assessment and design plans for the adaptive reuse of the Clarence Anderson Elementary School. Activities to prepare the space for use as an arts facility will include a full energy audit, lead paint analysis, and a plan to meet ADA regulations.

To support Common Ground, an urban design project. Under the direction of urban designer/public art planner Todd Bressi, Arts on the Block will collaborate with the University of Maryland Landscape Architecture program and the YMCA's Youth and Family Services in a community design process to transform an under-utilized parking lot into a neighborhood plaza for cultural, artistic, and recreational purposes.

To support the 3rd EyE Open Festival. The 13th annual festival will include the creation of a mural led by painter Percy Fortini-Wright and a performance featuring musical artist Tem Blessed and dance team Phunk Phenomenon, for the benefit of an audience drawn from throughout southeastern Massachusetts.

To support the production of Hablando Con Dolores, a one-act play by playwright Dee O'Connor. The work, Talking with Dolores, examines the issue of elder depression and will be produced in Spanish for presentation to elder Latino audiences in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

To support the Guitar Festival featuring Eliot Fisk and related outreach performances. In addition to the festival, Fisk and fellow guitarist Roberto Rios will perform at the Perkins School for the Blind and the Franklin Perkins School, an organization for youth with a range of psychiatric, social, and emotional issues.

To support the Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival. Activities will include an animated shorts program hosted by animator Bill Plympton and a forum with island filmmakers.

To support presentations of American Tapestry: Immigrant Children of the Bread and Roses Strike by Wendy Lement, Derek Nelson, and Megan Cooper. In commemoration of the centennial of the strike, every Lawrence Public Schools eighth grader will have the opportunity to attend the play at the Lawrence Heritage State Park Visitors Center.

To support a performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana featuring soprano Diane Penning, baritone Stephen Hartley, and tenor Sean Copenhaver. In addition to the soloists and orchestra, the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Chorus, the Northern Michigan Chorale, and the Northern Michigan Youth Choir will also perform. Maestro Sidney Hazelwood and musicologist Dr. Robert Pattengale will lead a series of lecture-demonstrations about the masterpiece.

To support a series of community concerts featuring baritone Peter Halverson. In partnership with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Department, the organization will bring seniors to Nicollet Island Pavilion for as many as four concerts. An additional concert will be performed for the community in Elliot Park.

To support a public performance featuring James Sewell Ballet with live accompaniment by the Arsenal Trio, as well as workshops for local dance students and other outreach activities. James Sewell Ballet will provide a movement program for older adults and a school-day performance for elementary school students.

To support the architectural design of a new building entry for the organization's facility, the former National Purity Soap Company building. The design will be developed through community charrettes and will be submitted for public hearings to the City of Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office.
