FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Musical Theater To support a production of Singin' in the Rain, directed and choreographed by Linda Goodrich and starring Broadway veteran David Elder. Based on the iconic 1952 film of the same name, the original adaptation of the work met with mixed success in London and New York, but a revised version created by Music Theatre of Wichita in 1992 has subsequently been produced regionally and toured nationally to critical acclaim. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support Play It Forward: An Exploration of a Female Aesthetic that Sustains Cultural Traditions and Personal Histories. The project will consist of residencies and performances in dance and music, including artists such as Ragamala Dance, jazz singer Nneena Freelon, singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega, and jazz violinist Regina Carter. Wichita State University (on behalf of Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art) Wichita, KS $100,000

FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Museum To support the second phase of an effort to conserve a Joan Miro (1893-1983) mural at the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art. The mural was commissioned in 1978 by the museum for its facade; 33 years of exposure to extreme weather in Kansas has taken its toll on the 26'x58' glass-and-marble mosaic.
