To support the District Project, a comprehensive national initiative to provide reports, training, and other tools to assist local arts agencies and other entities charged with creating, maintaining, and evaluating cultural districts. The project will provide free online technical resources including how-to guides, downloadable templates, sample documents, and case studies that reflect a variety of district models.

Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County

To support Coordinated Technology Services (CTS), a suite of electronic tools that will enhance the council's digital services to its constituency. CTS will enhance the council's web presence by providing a mobile website for smartphone users, and providing access to power2.give.org, a crowdfunding website.

To support ARTOMATIC 419! entrepreneurial workshops for emerging artists. The project will focus on marketing and audience development to increase participation by artists and attendees from diverse backgrounds in ARTOMATIC 419!

To support the Artist as Entrepreneur e-course, a visual arts marketing, self-promotion, and career-planning course for Louisiana artists. Proposed training sessions include writing marketing materials, working with the web, small business basics, media training, working with galleries, goal-setting, and designing a career path.

ArtServe Michigan, Inc.

To support Lawyers for the Creative Economy (LCE), a statewide network of attorneys who provide free to low-fee legal resources to artists, creative practitioners, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. LCE will provide professional development seminars in intellectual property and other creativity-related areas of the law for artists and other creative practitioners.

To support a marketing and audience development campaign for Free Fall, a city-wide festival designed to engage new audiences in arts experiences across all disciplines. Funding will support the hiring of a marketing/audience development consultant to work one-on-one with arts organizations focusing on smaller organizations to develop and implement marketing plans.

City of Austin, Texas (on behalf of Cultural Affairs Division)
Austin, TX

To support a cultural tourism plan and training program for arts and cultural organizations in Austin and the surrounding area. The Cultural Affairs Division will convene partners from the nonprofit arts and culture community and destination management entities, such as the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, to form the Tourism Task Force. The task force will advise the division on development of a cultural tourism plan.

Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

To support the Philly Teen Program, an initiative to encourage increased teen participation in arts and culture. Focused on 15- to 17-year-old students in Philadelphia, a Teen Pass will provide free access to Philadelphia museums and other teen-focused arts activities throughout the year.

Ink People, Inc. (aka The Ink People Center for the Arts)

To support the DreamMaker Program: Creating Healthy Communities through Arts and Culture, an arts incubator program. The DreamMaker Program provides peer support, technical assistance, not-for-profit management workshops, and training for Humboldt County cultural groups.

Metropolitan Arts Council of Greater Kansas City
Kansas City, MO

To support the creation of a regional cultural plan for the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. A consultant will be contracted to lead a cultural planning process for five counties in Missouri and Kansas.

Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, Inc.
New York, NY
$40,000
To support a technical assistance and mentor program intended to develop professional skills, strengthen organizational capacity, and build peer networks for underserved artists and arts organizations. Project activities will include workshops, panels, and mentoring in digital media, grant writing, marketing, audience building, and portfolio development, among other topics.

Piedmont Council of the Arts
Charlottesville, VA

To support the development of a Charlottesville-area cultural plan, encompassing the city of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and select surrounding counties. Consultant Craig Dreeszen will facilitate the planning process that will focus on cultural asset mapping, regional cultural tourism, and city-county investment in the arts.

Queens Council on the Arts, Inc.

To support the Build Your Own Business Program, which will provide services for emerging visual, literary, performance, and film artists. Queens-based emerging artists chosen by the council for this opportunity will work with a professional consultant to establish career goals and strategies.

Shreveport Regional Arts Council

To support critics' fees and administrative costs associated with the artspace Critics' Series, featuring Robert Pincus. The Series is an innovative program designed to develop the professional capacity of Northwest Louisiana visual artists and advance the dialogue of visual arts critcism through curatorial review.

Tucson-Pima Arts Council, Inc.
Tucson, AZ
$30,000
To support Field Services, a series of professional development opportunities for Southern Arizona arts organizations and artists. Field Services will address art leadership development within the region, including strategic planning for organizations and artist training in public art.
