FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Literature To support the publication of new titles by Latina/o writers Naomi Ayala and Edmundo Desnoes, as well as the conversion of backlist fiction titles to e-book formats. The press will convert books by such writers as Rolando Hinojosa, Ron Arias, Stella Pope Duarte, Rick Rivera, and Elva Trevino Hart. As many as eight artists will be commissioned to develop new collaborative art projects while "embedded" in the Roosevelt Row Arts District in downtown Phoenix, working alongside scientists, technologists, social agencies, and other community members. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater and Musical Theater To support the commission, development, and production of two plays: Two Frontiers by Arizona playwright Kara Hartzler and Dos Fronteras by Mexican playwright Medardo Travino. The plays represent the second and final phase of a bi-national project to commission and produce a trilogy of plays exploring the socioeconomic, political, cultural forces endemic to migration across the Mexico-Arizona border.
