Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) supports arts and culture activities in Shreveport and the northwest region of Louisiana. Having completely lost its headquarters in a 2009 fire, SRAC is repurposing the city's landmark 1922 Central Fire Station into new headquarters that will also serve as the anchor for Shreveport Commons, a new comprehensive arts district, and act as a gateway for entering the city.

SRAC and its partners will use its MICD25 grant to develop Shreveport Commons over a seven-block area along Common Street that will house visual and performance venues side by side with existing community service institutions, religious institutions, and new businesses. SRAC will engage in a number of activities intended to aid in the development of a master plan for the neighborhood's revitalization, including a detailed neighborhood inventory of existing buildings and sites; an outdoor festival that will engage the arts community; design and planning of the renovation of the Central Fire Station; a call for artists to design public art and signage for the area; and walking and podcast tours for interested stakeholders, such as community leaders, area residents, school groups, and potential investors.
