Lyric Opera of Chicago began their day with a performance for youth enrolled in the base's youth summer camp. A singer from the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists, accompanied by a pianist, sang songs for youth and explained how operas are put together. Approximately 25 young children were there for the activities, singing along to songs and asking questions.

That evening, an audience of approximately 150 military family members attended the performance and responded with two standing ovations. Highlights included "Largo al factotum" by a spectacular baritone, "Dôme épais" which featured two stunning voices, and a vibrant "Haben Sie gehört das deutche Band" (from The Producers). A question-and-answer session followed the performance, and the very engaged audience asked questions for a solid 45 minutes before seeking autographs from these future stars.
