Los Angeles Opera took a thorough approach to introducing audiences at Los Angeles AFB to opera. In January and February 2006, they carried out educational activities for children and families on the base, building interest and momentum. Though their Great American Voices performance was to cap things off in March, scheduling difficulties on base pushed it back to May. The concert proved to be well worth the wait.

Following a reception hosted by the Commander of Los Angeles AFB's Space & Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Opera thrilled the audience with a performance by a fabulously skilled pianist-narrator and four top-notch singers. "Nessun Dorma" and a work by Wagner were particular highlights as they showed off the great skills of the artists. The narrator's clever introductions to each work were the icing on the cake, delighting all with new insight into each work.
