Rimrock Opera Company at Malmstrom AFB
October 21, 2005

Our first foray into dinner theater, the Rimrock Opera performance at Malmstrom AFB incorporated guests into the first song, "Libiamo" from La Traviata, as guests revisited the action of the opera by toasting their neighbors and the singers. By the third song, guests had learned the appropriate moments to shout "Bravo!," which was heard frequently throughout the evening. Lively narration kept the audience well engaged.

Rimrock Opera had conducted educational activities at the base youth center the day prior to the performance, and it was amazing to see how the children responded. Namely, they all showed up for the performance night and brought their parents! Youth were so engaged and so appreciative of the singers…it was like rock stars had landed at Club Malmstrom. This performance provided proof that the initiative is indeed creating new audiences for opera and musical theater.
