The Santa Fe Opera at Naval Postgraduate School October 20, 2005

This engagement took place at a military school rather than a base—we are certainly getting a great deal of variety in just our first few performances! Santa Fe Opera flew in for this performance in Monterey, CA, having visited once before to see the space and work out logistics. As with most bases, an opera performance was an entirely new thing for the Naval Postgraduate School, and they really weren’t sure what to expect in the way of an audience. We are pleased to report a “standing room only” crowd at the Quarterdeck, where young artists from The Santa Fe Opera gave a performance described by their director of education as “one of the best concert performances that I have ever seen.” Staff at Naval Postgraduate School have already asked us if they can get Santa Fe Opera back for a future performance.
