A last-minute scheduling conflict at Fort Leonard Wood thwarted plans for a black-tie reception and performance at the base, but Opera Theatre of St. Louis carried on with their scheduled educational performance and activities at a high school that serves base youth.

The 45-minute performance included opera classics such as "Largo al factotum" from The Barber of Seville and "Ain't it a Pretty Night" from Susannah.  Students were invited to participate during parts of the performance.  The opera singers also conducted three 20-minute workshops on singing styles, acting, and make-up.  Approximately 130 band and choral students, divided into three groups, rotated through the workshops.  The singers were treated to a standing ovation following the performance and there were many one-on-one conversations happening between students and singers at the end of the day.
