Only one cultural organization exists in the Northeast quadrant of DC: Dance Place, located in the Brookland neighborhood. In 2011, Artspace Brookland Lofts was built to house 39 artist live/work units and three program spaces for Dance Place: a secondary dance studio, a children's center, and intern housing.

Dance Place will work with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and Brookland residents to create an outdoor Arts Plaza for concerts, dance performances, film screenings, music, and other cultural activities. The plaza will be located between Dance Place's existing studio and theater, and the newly built Artspace Brookland Lofts. Also, as the design work is taking place, programming will be developed through specific curators and production staff at Dance Place for 8th Street Northeast and the Monroe Street Market.
