The ever-growing list of Blue Star Museums -- now 780 -- will commemorate Father's Day (June 20, 2010) with many family-friendly experiences to nourish the soul and walk off the brunch.
The Above and Beyond Children's Museum in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is hosting a special Sports Day on June 19, complete with baseball, frisbee, and Father's Day craftmaking. Year-round exhibits at the museum include the Tree House Adventure and the Whompamaphone, one of the most unique wind instruments developed in the last 50 years.
The Dallas Museum of Art encourages families to find their inner portrait artist throughout the month of June. After viewing the exhibit Through the Eyes of Our Children—Something Beautiful, a series of photo portraits by Dallas public school students, families can create their own portraits in the museum's studio.
Fatherfest 2010 at the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania features some impressive grown-up toys, from helicopter rides to an antique car and motorcycle show.
Many Blue Star Museums offer engaging family activities throughout the year. Find Dad-friendly events this month by visiting www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.
