MY ART STORY by

Elise Witt

Pine Lake

Every minute of my every day and night is infused with Music. I am fortunate to have made my living for 45 years as a singer - a freelance working artist! Currently I am director of music programs at the Global Village Project, a school in Decatur GA, for teenage refugee girls from Afghanistan, Burma, Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iraq, Nepal, Somalia, Syria, and Central African Republic.

I also tour nationally and internationally with my concerts of Global, Local & Homemade Songs™ and my Impromptu Glorious Chorus™ vocal workshop/community sing.

The support of the NEA, through grants from Arts Councils around the country and from Alternate ROOTS, the collaborative of artists working at the intersection of arts and activism, is one of the major factors that has made my life as an artist possible.
