When I was in middle school, 30 something years ago, I considered myself stupid. I didn't get good grades and was socially awkward. Needless to say I was an unhappy kid! Then by lucky chance I stumbled into a theatre production at school and my life changed. Finally, I found my home. In theatre I felt happy, confident and even smart. I finally had a group of people I could connect with and the effects of all of that overflowed into the rest of my life. I don't know where I would have been or who I would have been without theatre.

I have never given up theatre and have continued to pay it forward by teaching children's theatre for the past 17 years. I know how every student who steps into my class possibly also considers themselves to be stupid, unworthy, and incapable and I look forward to showing them how much they shine and how amazing they really are. To say the least, for me the arts are invaluable!
