I majored in art history in the '70s—a wonderful degree, but not one for lucrative employment. So I continued on for a computer science MBA followed by a lengthy, intense career. My love for art history was put in the way, way back, other than museum visits while traveling. I hardly had time to realize I missed it—until I retired eight years ago. The first thing I did after retirement was take a docent program at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum near home. Giving tours now to adults and school groups is like a breath of fresh spring air after living in the basement for decades.
