In Appreciation: Michael Kuchwara
By Rocco Landesman
I was surprised and saddened when I received the news the other day of Michael Kuchwara's death. I had spoken with him maybe a month or so ago, and he seemed to be his same old ebullient self. He played an important role in my early career with his review of Big River, and I've been a devoted reader of his ever since. A knowing critic who really did want the plays to be good. One of the good guys. I would recommend reading Michael Feingold's fulsome tribute to him in the Village Voice. It will resonate with and be appreciated by anyone who knew Michael.
