Years ago, in the ?60s, I came across this book called Now We Are Six .---NEA Jazz Master Phil Woods

The connection between jazz and poetry is strong---probably why both are celebrated in the same month. Jazz musicians, like Charles Mingus, have recorded poetry over jazz music since the ?50s, but none have been as interesting as one of NEA Jazz Master Phil Woods? latest recordings, The Children?s Suite, which uses poetry by A.A. Milne of Winnie the Pooh fame.  But it wasn?t easy---maneuvering through the rights issues with the Milne estate proved especially tricky, as Woods tells it in this interview with Molly Murphy for the NEA.
