Art Works Podcast: John Williams

Washington, DC

If you’r'e interested in someone who’s garnered 45 Academy Award nominations, five Academy awards, four Golden Globe awards, and 20 Grammy awards, then tune into this week’s podcast and listen to a conversation with composer, conductor, and 2009 National Medal of Arts recipient John Williams.

While Williams has composed significant music for the concert hall, he is best-known for his iconic film scores. Over his fifty-plus year career, Williams has written many of the most famous scores in Hollywood film history, including those for the first three Harry Potter movies, nearly all of Steven Spielberg's feature films, (including  Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and the Indiana Jones movies), and, most notably, all six Star Wars films. In fact, in 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams’ score for 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV as the greatest film score of all time.
