At the Grand Ole Opry with Earl Scruggs

1989 NEA National Heritage Fellow (and National Medal of Arts honoree) Earl Scruggs, whose three-finger style of banjo picking helped elevate the popularity of bluegrass music, passed away last week. To celebrate his art, the Country Music Hall of Fame shared with us a clip of Scruggs with Lester Flatt and the Foggy Mountain Boys performing “Earl’s Breakdown” for the Grand Ole Opry Show in 1962.
