NEA Arts: The Artistic Climate

Probably anyone who's ever taken a creative writing course has heard the phrase, "Show don't tell." For visual artist Andrea Polli, that's also pretty good advice when it comes to talking about climate change. Polli works at the fertile crossroads of digital media and ecology, using her art to give her audience a visceral rather than intellectual experience of the changing environment. As she says in the NEA Arts feature "The Artistic Climate," “I wouldn’t say that I’m really explaining anything as much as I’m promoting a kind of emotional reaction.”

Read more about Polli's thought-provoking pieces--think a hyperventilating car and soundtrack of storm activity--in the new issue of NEA Arts, where you can also find plenty more about provocative projects at the convergence of art and science.
