In anticipation of the 2016 Poetry Out Loud National Finals on May 4, Poetry Out Loud program manager Eleanor Billington sat down to talk with last year’s champion, Maeva Ordaz, of Alaska. Now a freshman at Columbia University planning to major in computer science, Ordaz still reads and writes poetry when she finds the time. In fact, she thinks it's important to tap into the left and the right sides of her brain. Tune in to find out how poetry changed Ordaz's life, her favorite poets, and to hear her recite the poem that clinched the 2015 Poetry Out Loud national title.
