Poetry Talk with Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Today we're talking with poet, professor, and NEA Literature Fellow (yup, you guessed it), Aimee Nezhukumatathil. If you're wondering, yes, that's her real name. She's a wonderful poet who has penned three collections: Miracle Fruit (2003), At the Drive-In Volcano (2007), and Lucky Fish (2011). A few things you'll learn in this conversation are: Aimee's favorite words du jour, how she made poetry out of organic chemistry, and her love for the art of poem memorization---a great way to pass the time at the DMV she says.

Considering the Poetry Out Loud Finals are just around the corner [April 29-30], she was kind enough to demonstrate the art by reciting Yeats. Here's the first of a handful of posts with Aimee. [5:20]
