Blue Star Museums Blog (Archive)

So Long for the Summer!

As Labor Day looms, we try and collectively squeeze in as much summer as possible before the season slips away. We take one last trip to the beach, host one last barbecue, and stuff in as much ice-cream as will possibly fit in our bellies. For our service members, it also means visiting as many Blue Star Museums as possible before the program ends this weekend. This year, 2,175 museums across the country participated in the initiative, allowing our military members and their families to enjoy free admission to the country’s finest collections of art, history, science, nature, and music. On the blog, we chronicled your adventures as you got hands-on with physics at the Lawrence Hall of Science and discovered the beauty of the Sonoran Desert at Tohono Chul Gardens. We received advice on visiting art museums with children, learned about the blues at the B.B. King Museum, and explored artistic mediums such as punk rock, street art, and industrial design. Thanks for reading along and letting us be a part of your summer!
