MSO's award-winning, music therapy-informed, community engagement program for individuals with special needs, including severe developmental
disabilities, assisted living and rehabilitation needs, dementia, and long-term illnesses, annually reaching approximately 3,200 people at community partner locations throughout Dane County, Wisconsin, including healthcare facilities, retirement communities, and state-run institutions. HeartStrings is presented free-of-charge by a string quartet of principal MSO musicians through a series of themed, highly-participatory sessions conducted monthly from September-May to bring the benefits of live, classical music directly to these individuals, increasing their quality of life and providing a valuable resource for those who serve and care for individuals with special needs on a daily basis.
