Tips on Promoting a Poetry Out Loud Webcast Viewing Party

  • Announce the upcoming viewing party on your school's closed circuit television.
  • Post a “save-the-date” notice on the school calendar and on bulletin boards throughout the school.
  • Promote the viewing party during your school's daily public address.
  • Post photos of your viewing party on Twitter or post them on the Poetry Out Loud Facebook page. The NEA may collect them in a Facebook album.
  • #iampoetryoutloud - Share your solidarity with #POL19.  The National Endowment for the Arts is encouraging online audiences, POL state champions, POL state coordinators, and other audiences to post #iampoetryoutloud/ #POL19 selfies to Instagram. You can regram your selfies to the NEA Facebook page or share your #iampoetryoutloud/ #POL19 selfies on Twitter @PoetryOutLoud and @NEAarts.
  • Live-tweet about your pre-event or the live webcast. Follow the Poetry Out Loud National Finals online on Twitter at @PoetryOutLoud and @NEAarts. Use the #POL19 hashtag so everyone can follow conversation. Remember to take the high road!
  • Use this downloadable Poetry Out Loud logo to create a flyer or online notice about your viewing party.
  • Post a blog, email, or newsletter article about your successful event. Share on the Poetry Out Loud Facebook page.

Poetry Out Loud webcast viewing parties are intended solely as educational events to help foster dialogue about poetry, and about the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest. Poetry Out Loud webcast viewing parties must be free of charge, no purchase requirements of any kind.
