Arts Council of Fairfax County
The NEA grant will support Imagine Art Here, a cultural planning and artist-led civic engagement process to coincide with the redevelopment of Tysons Corner. The Arts Council of Fairfax County, in collaboration with the Fairfax County Office of Community Revitalization, Fairfax County Office of Planning and Zoning, Tysons Partnership, Inc., and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro), will work with a cultural planning consultant, a competitively selected artist team, and the Fairfax County community to develop arts installations or performances at as many as four locations adjacent to new Silver Line Metro stations in Tysons Corner.
The consultant will collect community data and create a master arts plan for the district, which at five square miles is Virginia's largest business district and the twelfth largest in the country. The project's target audience includes residents, workers, and retail visitors to Tysons Corner, as well as the projected Silver Line Metro ridership of 18,000 per day, per station.
