The NEA grant will support UNSCENE!, a series of monthly interdisciplinary arts events in and around Shreveport Common. Led by Academy-Award winning local filmmaker, designer, and artistic director Brandon Oldenburg, a team of local artists will work with guest artists-in-residence to create temporary installations, performances, films, readings, and other programming focused on audience participation and engagement. Each guest artist residency will last one month, during which invited artists will live in the Kellenberg Artist Tower at the center of Shreveport Common. Shreveport Common is a nine-block area of downtown Shreveport that has been targeted for planning and revitalization efforts.

UNSCENE! will be managed by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation department; additional partners include the Parish of Caddo, Downtown Development Authority, and Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau. The project is expected to strengthen the community of over 1,000 artists and 150 arts organizations in northwest Louisiana, and to engage over 350,000 residents living in this region.
