Pembroke Pines, Florida

The NEA grant will support the design of a new performing arts center and plaza, along with an arts demonstration project in the heart of Pembroke Pines. Project activities include the design phase of public spaces and pedestrian connections that will connect to the new center. Once construction has been completed, the 8,000-square-foot arts center will accommodate 3,500 audience members in the Great Hall and offer flexible seating and professional staging options. City of Pembroke Pines and Florida Atlantic University School of Architecture also will collaborate to activate the new plaza space with an arts demonstration event that may include, including sculptural installations, arts education programming, and interactive performances. The new center and one-acre plaza will serve 160,000 Pembroke Pine residents, as well as the 4.4 million residents of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties
