Welcome to the Collab Lab: Songwriter Shark Tank, where you will get to collaborate with fellow high school students participating in the Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge! In small teams, students will be given a prompt to come up with a short pitch for a new musical. Students will come up with the title, genre and synopsis for the show, and then write a short song to include in their pitch. Students will present their pitch to the other teams who will act as the “Sharks” or Producers, offering feedback on each pitch. Teams will get the chance to both pitch and produce, sharpening skills to talk about works-in-progress, and give and receive feedback. Guided by professional musical theatre writers, students will work together to collaborate, experiment and play in this fun, low-stakes environment. See you in the Shark Tank!
