Washington, DC—It is with great sadness that the National Endowment for the Arts acknowledges the death of National Council on the Arts member Ismael Ahmed, of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Mary Anne Carter said, “Ismael Ahmed dedicated his life to public service and to building stronger communities through arts, culture, and civic engagement. He believed deeply in the power of music to bring people together across differences. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the many communities he served. He brought thoughtfulness, generosity, and a strong sense of purpose to his service on the National Council on the Arts, and he will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.”
