2026 Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge Winner: Rett Bush (Georgia)
Rett Bush is a senior at Johns Creek High School in Georgia and an accomplished musician who performs as a vocalist and bassist in the Atlanta area while writing, recording, and producing original music. This fall, he will attend the University of Georgia to study Political Science and Economics. His song, "Welcome to Winter's Edge," is a heavy metal epic set in a frozen future where a sentient robot must choose between self-preservation and saving humanity's last survivors. Exploring themes of survival, loyalty, and humanity, the song follows a dramatic journey through the unforgiving wasteland of Winter's Edge.
